A Quick Personal Note

Something changed about one or two this morning.  I'm still weak, incredibly sore and get occasional chills but the back pain has ramped down significantly.

I have managed to keep a slice of toast down for about twenty minutes now, the first substantial thing I have eaten since early Saturday evening.  I haven't managed any ibuprofen since midday Sunday -- even taking it with a little food, I just couldn't retain it.  At least the antibiotics and heavy-duty pain pills mostly stuck with me.

Really hoping this trend will hold.  It's a huge effort just to get from the bed to my desk, though, so I don't think I'm going anywhere today.

That just means the stone has stopped moving for the moment Drink lots of lemonade, cranberry juice, water till it passes. Pain comes while stone is moving. Urologist is last stop if it gets stuck

Funny, the ER doctor said it would hurt as long as it was stuck and would stop hurting once it had passed into my bladder (and on out).

It's always tempting to, er, play doctor, but unless we have medical degrees and are in practice, it is best not to.

Probably in your bladder now.

You may have a recurrence of pain as it passes through the urethra, but not always.

Having had a kidney stone that was too big to pass out of the kidney, I really understand your pain. I drove myself to the doctor and had to pull over and wait out a wave of pain so bad that I could not focus on anything else. Luckily, my HMO got me in quickly and used sonic waves to break up the stone and the pieces passed without significant pain. I am hoping you are over the severe pain and recover quickly.

No medical advice here, just wishes for a speedy recovery.

"Atta Girl" points for your first stop out of bed being your desk so you could blog...

Hope that means it has passed. I've only had a stone once when I was very dehydrated from strep throat. Not fun.

Prayers for a speedy recovery!

I presented to doctors with back pain for 6 years. Once I turned yellow they figured the gall bladder needed to come out.

According to the surgeon who removed it, it was 6 years over due.

Oh well, they are just practicing medicine.

A kidney stone ranks right up there with the very definition of "pain". Gets to where you would almost welcome death. (not kidding a lot!)

Jim Dunmyer,
Women who have had babies with no pain killers AND who have had kidney stones say the stones are much worse.

The itty, bitty one I had (seriously, the doc almost laughed out loud at me when he looked at the x-ray) didn't hurt me so much as just make me feel "sick I'm gonna die" bad. That's not the usual experience according to my B-in-law that has had several send him straight to the ER. He's a construction worker who wouldn't go to the doctor unless he cut a finger 1/2 off. The stones put him down flat!

And still praying for yah R-X!

HOPE THAT YOU ARE BETTER SOON

PUSH THE FLUIDS

TRY TO WALK (PACE) IT SOMETIMES DISLODGES THE STONE AND RELIEVES THE PAIN

"THIS TO SHALL PASS" (QUICKLY !)
