Exporters do not pay tariffs.
Exporting countries do not pay tariffs.
Importers pay tariffs, and pass the added cost along to wholesalers.
Wholesalers pass the added cost on to retailers.
Retailers pass the extra cost on to you and me.
There are a lot of links in that chain, but that's how it works. Oh, importers, wholesalers or retailers may eat part of the cost, but not for long; profit margins are slim. It'll take time, but the prices of imported goods -- and things made here that use imported parts -- are going up. If it came from Europe, the price will go up at least fifteen percent, by and by.
Inflation is coming. Yell at me all you like, but it will still happen and tariffs will be the cause. Tariffs imposed by one man's whim.

If Obama or Biden had introduced these tariffs, a whole lot of Republicans would be screaming these facts loud and hard. But because Trump is doing it...
Just tell them you have a way to beat the tariffs, you will have their
undivided stupidity. Then tell them something stupid as that's all they will listen too.
Wind them up with a conspiracy theory on how they are being overcharged. They will eat it up.
Eck!
I just looked at the cost of wood fencing and I would pay double the price today for the one I put in a year ago. I’ll have to buy reclaimed wood just to keep my current projects moving along.
And beef, it’s approaching astronomical!
ICE raided another meat processing plant in Iowa a few days ago, with 200 people not likely to be MS-13 criminals told their visas were revoked and they must leave the country. That will slow the plant down and put further pressure on retail prices due to reduced supply, but it seems only the deportation quota matters.
I read today , he's talking about sending out large checks to everyone, "using the yuge profits we're making on tarriffs." One minute, the officials in Washington say the country is piss poor, a trilion or so in debt. The next minute, we're flush with free cash for everyone. How does that work??? Bob K
I listened to the Q2 earnings results webcast of a major tool manufacturer yesterday. Their revenue is down and they implemented a PRICE INCREASE to help offset tariffs.
Their words, not mine.
