Breaking News: Ricin To Bloomberg

Not a baseball play: some yammerhead slopped a bitta ricin on a letter to gun-grabbing NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a letter in which his gun-grabbing ways were unfavorably mentioned.

Hizzoner promptly (and to no one's surprise) announced such tactics would never, ever stop his efforts to remove or reduce one of your inalienable and Constitutionally-protected rights.  He'll shove us peasants back into the mud even if it takes half his fortune to get it done!

Hey, yammerheads, stop sending the little rat poison.  First, it's wrong; second, it's a crime; third, you will be caught; fourth, it's redundant and fifth, this is not how to win.

Nope, we -- normal gun-owners that is, not morons smearin' castor-bean extract on their dork-notes -- win by being right and outnumbering him.  On the one side, a gazillionaire and his bought-and-paid-for servants; on the other, five million NRA members and a hundred million law-abiding gun owners.  Ballot box, mail box, soap-box: we can whup 'im right there, with the great big mallet marked First Amendment.

And we'll whup 'im a lot easier if nit-wits don't go sending literal poison-pen letters to the freedom-hating elitist-in-chief and/or his higher ranking minions.  Stay off my side, dammit.  Don't give 'em any blood to dance in: they like it.  They're good at it.  Victims are their favorite props; they know how to work 'em.  Why make their job easier?

Presuming one of ours did it is to be no better than the MSM presuming the Tea Party causes all terror attacks and mass school killings. Also bear in mind the possibility of a hoax by a gun control loonie, much as "hate crimes" are often committed by the so-called "victims." If it's one of ours, let's see the proof.

I don't know that it was "one of ours." I was addressing yammerheads, a group to which most folks I know do not belong.

I don't think that the MSM will run an IQ test on the suspect to determine his yammerheadedness, Bobbie. If he passes the duck test by being a gun owner/NRA member, he's one of ours, like it or not. The acts of yammerheads can disgrace a whole organization, e.g., Abu Ghraib guards/urinating Marines.

Clever criminal!

First of all, since the act was illegal, we can deduce that the perp is a crook.
Second, crooks want us to be defenseless.
Third, threatening Bloomberg gets a highly predictable response: it hardens his resolve to ban legal gun ownership.
Net result? Defenseless victims.

Clever criminal!

Concur, and "IF" it was not an astroturfed moment, it's pathetic...

I have to agree, I think it was a gun hater. Anything to advance their agenda.

It's interesting that "our" side will, in general, immediately denounce in the strongest terms any wrongdoing on the part of one of "our" people. For instance, a philandering congressman on the right is generally given the virtual tar and feathers treatment and left to slink home to exile in disgrace.

The "other" side not only would refuse to denounce one of "their" people for wrongdoing, but would in fact either 1) insinuate that s/he must be one of "ours", or 2) when the wrongdoer was caught and forced to confess, would celebrate said wrongdoer's troubled upbringing or other youthful trauma as some sort of excuse or exoneration for the wrongdoing. (Any number of Democratic congresscritters have received this sort of absolution at the hands of their party; it is the rare Dem duck who loses his seat or pays any kind of political price...and the price is usually temporary at best, cf. Anthony Weiner.) Random gunmen and terrorist bombers are always assumed by the other side to be hard right-wing militia types until it turns out they're just loser leftists, at which point shut up.

Make it hard to have any kind of reasoned discourse in these declining years of the republic.

Bloomberg has already committed and/or suborned the commission of crimes in pursuit of his agenda (remember the out-of-state straw purchases arguably in violation of RICO?). There is nothing -- nothing -- of which Prince Pompadoodle is not capable; no depth to which he will not sink.

It appears that such letters are not, in fact, impossible to trace. One way or another, the perp will be run to earth and then we'll know, won't we?

Remember: two people can keep a secret...if one of them is dead.

Can you say "False Flag Operation"? Sure, I knew you could.

Leaping to conclusions might be good exercise but it's better to wait and see.

Occam says this is simply the act of an unhinged person.

Occam's razor is usually right, except when it's horribly, horribly wrong.

Six months ago "the IRS is targetting conservatives" would have met with the same 'let's not get ahead of ourselves' mindset.

just sayin, you know?

...Except auditing people half to death is a plausible thing for FedGov to do. They've done it for years to any people or group they want to mess with. How'd they jail Al Capone? back taxs!

Mailing poison to themselves? Way too subtle and risky for even an addled big-city mayor. "I know you're a man; and men are mortal and fear death, and therefore you would have mailed the poison to somebody else! You've given it all away! Never go against a politician when death itself is on the line!" No, we'd better leave that gambit for The Princess Bride. Besides, I heard Bloomberg is not immune to iocane powder.
