Rain all day yesterday, with a few minutes of wet snow last night. It was a day so gray it made the existence of sunshine unlikely.
Today's trying hard to make up for it, a bright morning with barely a cloud in sight. I'm doing the laundry slog right now but this afternoon, I hope to take a walk or at least do a little work outside.

We drove to the other side of St. Louis to Purina Farms yesterday in the all-day rain. We had a tail wind going up and a stronger tail wind coming home. In 250 miles we saw five wrecks in the ditch or median. One was a Brinks truck turned on its side and facing the way it came. A kind soul stopped past it and opened the back of his van to get the driver and guard out of the weather. They looked pretty well stomped. I witnessed a Brinks wreck many years ago, and it did the same thing to the crew. There is not any give in those four wheel beasts. We got to the dog show just as they were bringing out the Schipperkes, so there was joy to make the hard drive worthwhile. Heavy rain travel tip: Don't push. Find semi trucks going fast enough and follow at a safe distance in their squeegeed tracks.
