Why Are We At War?

...For the third (or is it the fourth?) time?

What, don't you watch magic acts? It's not about the patter, it's not about the obvious gesture; it's about what they're distracting you from noticing.

And while many of us are gleefully replaying every criticism of Mr. Bush's foray into Iraq on the screen of Mr. Obama's weak-tea Libyan reenactment, the Mint's printing presses whir ever faster.

War is the health of the state. Just like misdirection is the health of prestidigitation. Or three-card monte, which the News Cycle and the Government with which it is so deeply entwined took as its model decades ago.

Tails? Dogs? Wagging?

What I've really enjoyed is the reruns of Ronaldus Magnus giving his speech at the time of the 1986 Libyan strike. The contrast between leadership and pandering is hard to ignore today as the Samba king cavorts for a week late Mardi Gras carnivale.

Enh, might as well polish the brass on this here Titanic, they took away all the buckets we were using to bail.

And don't even ask what they did to the lifeboats. *shudder*

I seriously doubt O-Bomb-A has a prayer in 2012, no matter what he thinks this little adventure might do for his chances.
There are suggestions that the only thing keeping his misadministration together is the collective efforts of leftover Clintonistas, and that, as soon as Hillary bails, they will, too. Dunno.
But it wouldn't surprise me if His imperial majesty doesn't even get the jackass nomination for 2012.

WV: genies. Yep, that will be what it'll take for him...
