Please
join NRA or
renew your membership if you haven't already. Are they perfect? Oh,
hells no; but the NRA is the loudest voice we have, ad the only one with all the legislators addresses, phone numbers, favorite beverages and lobbyists who know what buttons to push. They're also your best chance to do a little button-pushing yourself -- they're always looking for volunteers!

My 5-year membership runs out in November. I'll renew then. If they suit action to their words in the next few months, and truly represent the vast unwashed against the gun-grabbers, I might even make it a life membership this time.
Well done! I took the leap and finally became a 'Lifer' thanks to the current $300 promotional rate. If you can find another Life Member as a sponsor send them here: https://www.nra-2013.org/ to purchase a 'gift membership'. Also available: 1 year memberships for $20. Otherwise use Tom Gresham's link for $10 off of a 1 year membership ($25) and the money he makes off of it is sent to SAF.org.

I renewed my membership last year, so I finally signed up with the Second Amendment Foundation.
Or upgrade your membership, I'm up to Benefactor
As many times as the NRA has come down to Georgia and stabbed us in the back over local gun legislation, it is rather difficult to trust them.
Understood, Simon; I've read a little about it and it's genuinely vexing, a huge communication problem at the very least. How're your local NRA liaison types? Do they maybe need to be eased out (or kicked out) from the inside?
I'm not saying NRA is 100% perfect, it's just our best voice in Washington. And it can be steered, but you can't influence it if you are not a member.
Good for you! I don't always agree with them, but they have the mechanism in place for legal change.

See you on the scaffold - I'm A Life Member!

Life Member since 1984 when the cost was $300 and you could stretch it out over 12 payments. I was a freshly married E3 but made the sacrifice. One of these years I would like to upgrade but it isn't going to be this year. Good on you for renewing.

Already done! :-)
Renewed a couple months ago.
Did you ever notice that the NRA is the only lobbying group whose members don't go around believing they are victims?
I'd like to see 100 million NRA members. Lot of gun owners out there that take it for granted.
I put myself up for another few years.
If they'll ashcan LaPierre, I'll go Life...
I was hoping that you would take a little time with co-workers and friends to invent another arm that we could keep and bear - one that isn't a 'fire' arm. Good to know times are good enough for renewal, although I think your place puts out more good information than the NRA on many things, you haven't the politicians' ears nor hand in their campaign chests.
Earl, the problem is the power source -- and size. Right now, the SOTA is at about the "handgonne"/"matchlock" transition stage: bulky weapons good for a shot or two before reloading. And they need wall-socket juice to reload quickly over and over.
...That said, I really do need to put in some time on a nice ball-bearing railgun in like .375" or .450".
Putting it another way: Even if you like another pro 2nd Amendment group better, make it the other group AND the NRA not OR the NRA.
