I used to follow "Poe Toaster Day" closely, until the 2nd generation Toaster discontinued the practice. The world's a little emptier without the Toaster. And, of course, no Toaster if Poe hadn't lived.

One of the cooler things about Theodore Roosevelt is that he was a Poe nut. He has a quote somewhere about the Dakota Badlands looking like Poe's stories felt, which is reason enough for me to put them on the bucket list for a visit.
