Y'know, if I told you one of my cousins was facing 88 felony charges across four different jurisdictions, and had recently lost some big civil cases as well, would you be inclined to loan him your car? Or would you be thinking up polite excuses while trying to remember if you'd left the keys in plain sight?
It's worth pondering.

I wouldn’t loan my own Mother my car under those circumstances, much less your cousin. IF you got it back, it’d probably look like it had been in a game of bumper cars with the police. And that before we even talk about the Aiding and Abetting charges that would follow.
But my cousin* tells me it's all fake & made up, and the cops just hate him.
*I actually have a cousin that's a graybar hotel frequent flyer. His excuse and those of the former POTUS are pretty much identical.
