The Sign On The 50-Caliber Rifle Case:
"In
case of alien attack: remove from case, load, point directly at menace
and squeeze trigger slowly. There will be a loud sound. Repeat until
problem is eliminated. Hearing protection required."
Unfortunately noted expert in the field Brig. Gen. Lethbridge-Stewart established through years of experienc that alien menaces are typically immune to bullets.
Well, having fired both a Serbu and a Barrett in 50 BMG within the last few months, I can say that the Recoil is not THAT Bad. I've fired worse "Big Game" Rifles.
And before someone claims that "Well, You're a Guy!", I have on Video Nancy R. taking Four Shots with the Barrett.
And since Nancy falls between You and Tam Size-Wise, if you ever feel that a 50 BMG is needed for Broad Ripple, I say "Go For It!"
In the first book in John Ringo's Adventures with Physics (The Looking Glass series, it's the one that he eventually got an actual physicist to cowrite and the physics got better and we got honest to goodness Space Marines on a submarine turned starship (don't ask)), it opens with an Alien Invasion in the backwoods of someplace or other (Florida?), and the locals throw a welcome party, up to and inclusive of .577 Tyranosaur, because it's a John Ringo book.

Ego vadum perussi vestri prandium
"I saw to what extent the people among whom I lived could be trusted as good neighbors and friends; that their friendship was for summer weather only; that they did not greatly propose to do right; that they were a distinct race from me by their prejudices and superstitions."
Henry David Thoreau

No "in case of Zombie attack" footnotes on the sign?

Did she fall, Les -- or was she pushed?
