Conservative Co-Worker: "Visited my family in [distant large city] and man, did I get yelled at. My cousin told me, 'You probably think it's okay that just anyone can buy an assault weapon!' I told him, 'Yeah, I do,' and they all started in on me! Do you ever get that?"
Me: "Um, well, see, compared to most of my family, I'm kinda liberal."
CCW: [long, boggled silence] "Wow. I can hardly picture that."
...It's true, though....

And can they please stop calling them "assault weapons"? Geez.
You're the LIBERAL in your Family!?
Uh, how old can one be and still be Adopted?
I am often certain that your definition of liberal, doesn't match the LIBERAL ideal. But I like 'good people' as a definition of worth, not some political label. Which, means that you are... thanks for being such. When is everyone going to stop trying to reach the ranting level of the media? I want a very loud 'Fire!' or 'Wake UP!' only when I am needed for more than making a rational decision.
I am simultaneously to the right and left of my mother.
I was the kid who did not ask to go see Metallica, but begged my folks to take me to see Rush Limbaugh on the first Rush to Excellence Tour at fifteen years old. I have mellowed a little and my taste in comenters has changed, but I am still right wing- just in a furry suit.
One of the parts of the Second Amendment I'm not so crazy about is that I have to tolerate persons I don't think ought to have a firearm, having firearms. But there's no way for me argue past tolerating their rights, if I am to have mine.
Put another way, I don't know about anyone else, but I think it's just great that I can acquire arms. If I can put up with everyone else having them, everyone else is just going to have to be good sport about me having them.
You're co-worker's cousin needs to be sweated a little if he calls on your co-worker for help with something, like moving. Or he needs to have his ass kicked.
