"...An All-Expenses Paid Trip To Outer Space!"

The Space Needle's got a contest. The prize is out of this world.

All I recall of the space needle is the world's fair sometime in the early 60's and my Mom telling EVERYONE how I ralphed all over her Jackie Onassis lookalike outfit when she got me up to the observation deck and I didn't like either the ride up in her arms, or the view.

18 years later I'm teaching aerobatics in a Dacatholin, so I'm not sure how that all transpired.

I wonder if the consolation prize is a used space suit?

I'm guessing that Heinlein's Have Space Suit - - Will Travel was your blog post title inspiration? That one was one of my personal favorites, and doesn't get mentioned much by fans, for some reason.

THE SWEEPSTAKES IS SUBJECT TO ALL APPLICABLE FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS.

Frankly, I'm a little afraid that means I'd owe taxes on it if I won, and given what the Russians are charging for their ride to the Great Outdoors, I'm concerned that winning would bankrupt me.

That prize has probably figured into the dreams of every child born since 1950. Certainly in all of mine.
