A Funny Thing Happened At The Zoo

I went to the Indianapolis Zoo and...

...the animals blacklisted me!

Except for the ones who just plain can't be bothered to care.Tsk. "Can you outrun a cheetah," indeed. A sleeping one, you bet!

So, I was ignored. At least they still have children for the turtles tortoises to look at; I'm pretty sure it goes that way 'round. And so are they. (With no treats to lure them, either. There were two turtles tortoises, cruising around, looking for children to view; when they spotted one, they'd amble over and take a good, long look. They think the Deserts Biome is run to entertain them and they may be right. Well, them and the bust-a-pose bearded lizards, who perk up at the sight of a camera.)

I went to the zoo several years ago with my ex-wife and her niece. When we walked into the Deserts Biome we heard this grunting sound. About 5 seconds between grunts.

We're wandering around looking at stuff and I figure out the sound is coming from an area in the middle of the dome. It's two turtles looking like a accident between a couple monster trucks. And about every 5 seconds there was a thrust and a grunt..... I caught up with daniece and we went to watch the dolphins.

I had to try really hard to not giggle like a little girl the whole time we were leaving.

Glad to see that; at first I was worried that you had developed some sort of animal-butt fetish...

BobG,

About halfway through our visit, she commented that by the time she took her camera out, nearly every critter had turned its back to her: "They're shunning me! I'm going to have nothing but pictures of animal backsides!"

...And then it occurred to me: There wuz a conspiracy. Them aminules was a'blacklistin' me!

Ring-tailed lemurs worry me; they're pretty much cats with hands. I check to make sure they are still safely on their island every time I visit the zoo. Lions and tigers and bears? Ha! They don't have thumbs.

I'll have to check for bearded lizard pix. I shot several. They look pretty much like horned toads to me. Vainest reptile in the entire zoo.
