Off To The Dentist
Alas, nothing in the blog-queue has quite gelled. I'm pretty sure the dentist thing is just a cleaning -- oh, the fun we have! Still, it's a field of endeavor where the state of the art has advanced markedly, especially in recent years. And the chairs are comfy.
That ultrasonic plaque cleaner my hygienist uses is nothing short of miraculous. If there's one thing in the world that gives me the crawling heebie-jeebies, it's someone scraping on my teeth with a sharp instrument.
Dental science has made some mighty progress in the past 50 years. One more thing Obamacare will probably ruin.
Oh the office, skill and technology is nothing short of astounding but ... I just wish I could find a dentist that didn't remind me of a less caring, sensitive Steve Martin.
I go to a group practice because of the plumpish, kindly (Santa Claus impressionist) partner ... and I get the Harley riding sadist from Transylvania (most dentists here appear to be from either Russia, Poland or the neighbourhood - welcome to the NHS).
Still it's motivation to brush and floss if nothing else. If I could just find the right pot-plant!

"I saw to what extent the people among whom I lived could be trusted as good neighbors and friends; that their friendship was for summer weather only; that they did not greatly propose to do right; that they were a distinct race from me by their prejudices and superstitions."
Henry David Thoreau

As one dental tech expressed it, "Dentistry is the only branch of medical science that's trying to put itself out of business.
Hmm. Maybe that's why they charge so much...
