Sounds like many Christmases at my Grandma's house. 1200 square feet, and by the time I was in high school, there were 14 of us for dinner. I spent a lot of time in the back yard reading.

There is a story there. It is a sad one. I will not tell it.
I suspect it echoes mine as well. Let the past bury the past and move on, sadder but stronger.
