The older I get, the more parts of my life come to resemble a controlled fall. Oh, gravity will win; it's just a matter of making the best possible bargain before things go too far.

Also, as we age we all become more aware of the "Law of Diminishing Choices".
I once read that if you are over forty years old, wake up, and don't hurt anywhere it means you are dead.

It gets more painful/interesting in the seventh and eighth decades!
Back in the day (1950s or so), we had a sign in the physics department: "Support your local physicist - repeal the law of gravity."
To "Anonymous": Those of us in our 9th decade think that those in their 7th or 8th are pikers. *chuckling* (If I last that long, I'll let you know what those of us in our 10th decade think of those in their 9th.)
