Senator "Uncle Joe" Donnelly's office is denying the Indiana Senator has taken Mayor Bloomberg's shilling over the so-called "expanded background checks" law (that's the law that makes you a Federal felon for loaning a gun to your unmarried roommate or lodger -- feel safer already?). Meanwhile, the most recent press release on the subject to be seen at our junior Senator's website implies he's all about the background checks.
My guess? He'll run with the hares and hunt with the hounds just as long as he can, lifting a finger -- or a hind leg -- to the breeze until he's certain which way the wind blows.
There's you a man of deep conviction and commitment: commitment to bite off the heads of whatever chickens it takes to stay in office. If he keeps hangin' around MAIG, he'll learn all about conviction, from men who know it well -- and indictment and prosecution, too. Better bring a long spoon, sir; the one you're using now ain't nearly long enough.

FOR YOUR READING PLEASURE
PLUNKET OF TAMMANY HALL BY WM RIORDEN
THE FEDERALIST PAPERS #63 MADISON
THE 12 CAESARS BY SUETONIUS
WHEN YOU HAVE READ THEM PERHAPS WE CAN TALK ABOUT THEM ?
In my copious spare time?
I'm down to six hours sleep a night now. I hardly have time to do my fun hobbies as it is and I am just about politicked out.
We may have much to learn from history but the bulk of of it (especially political/war history) is depressing. It's almost better to be the frog who hasn't sense enough to know it's hopelessly trapped in the milk judge -- and treads water (milk) until it has churned up a patch of butter to float on.
It's depressing because the barbarians always come back and 99% of the time, they are ignorant and destructive, while what they destroy is effete and decadent. I dislike those extremes being the only options.
Tam reads that sort of thing rather more -- and more willingly -- than I.
Funny thing about Campaign Finance Laws nowadays. The records of Financial Transactions are much more readily accessible to the Public. So if one knows where to look, one can see how much(if any)Dollars went from MAIG to Donnelly.
If its true, why then he can be held accountable for his Votes.
After all, the Anti-Gunners have no problem attacking those "Public Servants" who take NRA Funding and Backing, so why can't they be on the Receiving End for a change? Sauce for the Goose, as it were.
EDITED. Geesh, I can't even write no more.

"Mayor Bloomberg's shilling"?
I thought 30 pieces of silver was the traditional price to buy a turncoat.
