TSA -- TSA! -- has decided you can carry a tiny knife (non-locking, non-fixed, 2.3" long by 0.5" wide) on a plane, plus a number of club-like sporting sticks (pool cues, lacrosse and hockey sticks, etc.) and bed-wetters, media figures and stewardesses are horrified. "What weapons are next?" they moan.
Golly gee, I dunno; maybe all those other things people in all the non-plane-travel portions of your day routinely carry, 99.99999% of the time without harming others?
Grow up. Penknives are not weapons in most people's hands -- and the tiny, terrible minority of people who will initiate force are just as deadly with a pen or pencil, a knitting needle or a flattened, bent and torn soft-drink can; you know, the kind of aluminum can you hand them on most flights?

WAIT! WE DID THAT IN THE DC-3 I ALSO GOT TO SIT IN THE RIGHT HAND SEAT UP FRONT WHILST THE PILOT EXPLAINED AND I STEERED FOR A FEW MINUTES I GOT A SET OF JUNIOR PILOTS WINGS AND A KISS FROM BOTH STEWARDI I WAS 8 AT THE TIME THATS THE ANSWER BRING BACK THE DC-3 AND THE 1950S SEE TO IT !
Hmm. I find it interesting that any effort to increase the personal safety of the average citizen is immediately jumped on by the Unions. The Teachers Union are going Ape because a Person with a Gun MIGHT be allowed to serve in their Classrooms; Police Unions HATE Concealed Carry; and now the Flight Attendants Unions are going Nuts over people carrying SWAKs.
Why, it's as if they ALL got the same Briefing to Oppose ANYTHING that might lead to an Armed, Alert Citizenry.

Yabut, have you seen the "can opener" and other deadly weapons also on that Swiss army knife? OMG, we're all gonna die when we duck and cower but then get stabbed, scissored, tooth-picked, pliered and screwdrivered, both flat *and* Phillips!
I think they're doing this because they miss them most of the time anyway... (I know that for a fact- SIX trips with a Victronix in my backpack, never caught.)
Wonder what they'd say about my CRKT Get-A-Way Driver with its bottle opener? :)
