Hopefully the bear won't get you today. Seems like it's your turn for a win.
Doing the "same thing" is contraindicated, unless you enjoy being trapped in an endless loop. I suggest reversing the steps. (But replace the wrong wrench when you sub in the new switch.)
What's behind that rack in the van? How about you just use a drill and nibbler to cut a hole in the sheet metal, and work from outside? Cut the hole to accommodate a Bargman RV hatch door.
If anyone asks about it, say "wasn't that access door always there?"
