It may take several shots to make a noticeable difference. Pain relief from steroids is sometimes slow to start and takes repeating for full effect. I have experienced better relief after my second round.
Doc says we'll do another one. If that doesn't put things right then arthroscopy will be next.
I hope you don't have to take it that far and get better with just the injections. Like you, I spent the last years of my working career crawling and cavorting in cable bundles and sub flooring, which can really aggravate the joints.

I would suggest checking with a physiatrist(sp?) (sports medicine). These doctors specialize in joint problems of athletes, mostly. Check with the sports teams in your area for possible referrals.
About twenty years ago, a friend had a loose shoulder joint. They used some sort of heat production to shrink the connective tissue, which fixed most of the joint problem for him. May have still been an R&D process at that time, by a big name Sports Medicine group here in the Bay Area.
