Chips, Dipped

Tam bought some (supposedly) wasabi-flavored chips. I grabbed a couple to try. Chip one: faintest of hints of a trace of a taste of wasabi.

H'mm. Fail. What to do with chip two? Turned to fridge, removed pot of ground ordinary horseradish, dipped chip two in, removed and et it. Ahhh! That's the stuff!

Geesh, guys, get with it. I'm not askin' to be hit over the head but there's got to be some zing. Otherwise, why bother?

I, too, love the "medicinal" effects of horseradish. I've learned that you should never exhale through the nose when you have a mouthful of the stuff, though.

Wasabi ain't what it used to be, it seems. I had wasabi tuna tartare at a restaurant in Toronto and it was so bland it might as well have been cat food. $15 cat food.

You just can't trust the people who name food products. I learned that when they started advertising "the tangy zip of Miracle Whip."

Blue Diamond Wasabi/Soy Almonds are not bad.

Nice zing, but not enough to give you that sinus-clearing blast you get when you go a little too far at the sushi bar.

P.S. - You got some wasabi on your comments thread. Got my sinuses cleared by coffee when I read Tuevo's contribution. Hope you leave it up there.

Man, I never get good spam. Speaking of Wasabi though, when I used to work for the shipyard, we had some folks come back from Japan with a few bags of dried Wasabi Peas...and those might have met your approval. They were sinus clearers.

I'll second MSgtB on the Almonds...not my favorite flavor, but the amount of heat is right proper, while still having taste.

Yes, I am a big fan of wasabi peas. They are just about right.

I'm a fan of all things spicy and hot. Even so, I have discovered my intake can handle ever so much more than my exhaust.....

I apologize for those dupes Roberta. Stupid interwebs.
