Tam points out the current, 5th-gen "nano" size of a popular, portable, personal music/video/whatever storage and playback system is tinier than ever and now includes a speaker!
...My opinion of this revoltin' development is that they waited until it was this small to add a speaker so that when the person next to you takes it away, turns it up all the way and installs it in that most sunless and dank part of your body, it won't do so much damage on the way in or require medical intervention to get back out. Hey, I could be wrong -- but you might wanna stick with earphones just to be on the safe side, 'kay?
$PERSONAL MUSIC DEVICE prices keep on dropping. I'd say they're almost inexpensive enough to be used as prizes in Cracker Jack® boxes but those prizes aren't what they once were. Hey, it still tastes just as good -- and it's not loud, either.

I saw a 5th gen nano a little while back; the video is usable for bus trips etc but the speaker isn't worth the trouble.

It can't sound any worse than the speakers built into my cell phone.
See, this is why I got a small, streamlined cell phone....
The PSP is the bane of my existence, even more so than any iPod could ever be. Some gal sitting in the hall outside of my Psych class this afternoon came very close to forcibly eating hers. Bad enough ninety percent of the students think nothing of turning up their MP3 player so high it can be heard through the earbuds and sitting in class that way--at least they're giving lip-service to the idea of keeping it private.
Oh, I think there are people who would benefit greatly if they were fed their noisemaker-of-choice; or at least those around them would. Hey, it's for the common good!
