In Texas, we have a saying: "Raining like a cow peeing on a flat rock."
It doesn't fit your circumstance, but the amount of water is probably the same.
"Snowing like a Yeti on an all-prune diet," perhaps?
We're now getting your leftovers. That patina of ice underneath it all is really special.
