Don't Be A Yeager

I haven't commented on the (latest) James Yeager flap so far - but he provides a graphic illustration of a simple principle: If you carry a gun, don't make threats.

Not following that advice has backfired very badly on Mr. Yeager and we may all get a little splattered from it.  Don't play into the hands of those who would disarm you; stand up to 'em but don't go posturing and drawing lines in the sand.  All it does is play into their hands by giving them someone to point at and stoke people's fears.

Yeah, yeah, the right to free speech is normally construed quite broadly.  So's the right to be a fool.  Doesn't mean ya otta be one.

Light travels faster than sound, which explains why some appear bright, until they speak.

The annoying thing is that if one person on the other side made jackhole comments about something and started threatening to kill somebody, the MSM would ignore it, because one person is not indicative of a trend.

The problem with being principled and law-abiding is that you are held to a higher standard by your low-flying opponents.

If? If? They already have, over and over, right there on the editorial pages while drawing a paycheck from the newspaper, news site or network.

But-- Unlike the noisy Mr. Yeager, those folks are presumed unarmed. (Which is why they want Uncle Sammy's cops and soldiers to do their dirty work). Since they are unable to do the deed themselves, they get a pass; rather like David Gregory with a 30-round AR magazine in DC.

Yeah, I forgot for a moment how all the "Death to George Bush" morons got a pass on that for eight years.

I plead I was really sleepy when I typed that. That getting old thing is not for the faint of heart.

Sometimes I think the Fifth Rule should be something I heard from a dog trainer rather than a shooter:

Don't dial a number you don't want answered.
