If You Have Criminal Neighbors, Carry A Gun

U.S. missile defenses in place to protect Hawaii from North Korean launch.

Three observations:

1. Why is it, ezzacatly, nobody has bothered to slap this loonie down? Do we have to wait 'til he blows something up -- probably not the thing he was aiming at?

2. Funny how the "armed self-defense" approach is A-okay at the macro scale in HI, but Heavens forfend they should entertain the notion of plain citizens being armed to protect themselves from footpads and highwaymen, ooooo nooooo. But perhaps I do their legislators a disservice; this is comin' from Teh Feds and mayhap local leaders would druther send out young women with leis to greet incomng fire.

3. Lost in translation: honest to Murgatroyd, if'n you're gonna get into a genitalia-size contest with the rest of the world, shouldn't you name your missile something other than "Taepodong-2?" (I've heard what they say about fellows who tap it more than once).

I think this guy is smaller in every way but one -- and would you not just know, that's the one he's playin' with?

Somebody did slap this loonie down and force him into talks by talking tough (even called him a member of the Axis of Eeeveeellll). But that somebody isn't President anymore and Kim Jong Crazy isn't afraid of Barry.

Don't worry, Roberta, Barry will never let his place of birth, Kenya, er, I mean Hawaii come to harm.

Hey, Taepodong-2 is a hell of a lot better than their predecessors' names... Nodong-1, 2, and 3.

"Nodong" 1 through 3? Well, there's three more strikes against the little creep: that's the sort of thing fuels the whole "overcompensating" calumny of which antis are so fond.

SB: Yeah, well, he didn't slap hard enough. An' here I thought GW was supposed to be a horribly bully or something...

It's better than the Nodong- This one at least gets off the pad... And Barry is going to send Hillary to "negotiate harshly" with them... sigh...

I still like the idea of nuking their test site with something bigger than the feeble fissile flashbangs they've come up with so far: Break their test site utterly, maybe off a few of their researchers, and remind them of what happens when they make powerful enemies.

The reason no one has slapped them down yet is they have megatons of conventional HE ordinance sitting near the border, sighted in on South Korea. And they've said that at the first sign, they're going to start throwing mortars, etc, until they run out of ammo or all the mortarmen are dead.

So, unless we want a whole lot of dead South Koreans, there's more to it than just running a B-2 over to the launch site and playing Nuclear Crocodile Dundee with them.

*sigh*

If we survive the next 3.5 years, we'd better hope we get a Reagan to follow up Obama's Carter impression, to put all these tin-pot psychopaths back in their holes.

Hypothetical: if there were conjoined twins, one of them a productive type who pays the bills on time and is at least middlin' kind to small children, old ladies and pets and the other one is criminally-inclined, starves his kids, beats his wife and trash-talks, and the latter was holding the former hostage while demanding food, money and/or respect, how long would you put up with it? How long would the po-lice put up with it? What would the good twin want done about it?

"No-dong" is Korean for "Labour" as in "Labour Party". No-dong shinmun is the labour party news[paoper, the official voice of the DPRK government.

Tae-po is loosley translated as "big explosive" or "rocket". Taepodong is the Labour Party's Rocket.

Larry said...

Oh, and "dong" is ponounced with a long "O".

Well, at least there's that much left unsullied, Larry. Srsly, good info and I thank you for it.

I should have looked it up -- belatedly, it occurs to me that Korean is one of the few languages that has a completely regular orthography.

That little platform-wearing midget is a GENIUS! If the Golden Kenyan ignores it, like he seems to show to white people, he's gonna be railroaded out.
