Indiana Gun Legislation

Oh, yeah, we've got gun laws and knife laws on the docket here in Hoosierland:

HB 1194 -- Hunting preserves. Could be good, could be bad.

HB 1586 -- Lifetime unlimited handgun license fees.  Appears to waive part of the fees if you have a Utah permit.

SB 0097 -- Possession of firearms on state property.  Legalizes campus carry!

SB 0106 -- Lifetime senior hunting license.

SB 0130 -- Indiana firearms freedom act.

SB 0181 -- Knives with automatic blades.  Legalizes "automatic knives," a/k/a switchblades.

SB 0199 -- Using silencer when hunting. Legalizes use of silencers, unless you are poaching or tresspassing.

SB 0282 -- Lifetime hunting and fishing licenses.

SB 0340 -- Ethical hunting. Does not look like a good one. Probably aimed at hunting preserves, etc.

SB 0487 -- Shooting and hunting preserves. Could be good, could be bad.

SB 0555 -- Indiana firearms reciprocity license.  Adds an extra License To Carry Firearm with training certification, for purposes of gaining reciprocity with states like Ohio.  Okay if it doesn't replace the present system.

SB 0595 -- Sentencing for crimes involving a firearm. Removes "time served" credit.

Grey ones haven't advanced out of committee -- thus far.  Mostly good bills, a few iffy ones.

Hate to say it, but for me to carry in Indiana on an Ohio CHP will take Your Legislature to make it happen. Our Rino NRA Rated"C-" State Attorney General, who used to be the Republican U.S Senator from Ohio until he got Booted Out would jump on the MAIG Bandwagon in a heartbeat if it wasn't for the State Supreme Court and all those Voter-Approved Constitutional Amendments like Castle Doctrine, etc HATES the 2A.

Bubblehead: IN accepts all licenses from anywhere. We can't carry in your state, however.

What Mike said. Indiana recognizes licenses from all states, foreign nations, and the empires of Barsoom.

Les, check your course finder and then of course check Indiana Code 35-47-2-21(b).

Indiana welcomes all you sandaled, blacksock-wearing foreigners, including Buckeyes. Be sure to come on over from the NRA Annual Meeting in 2014 in Indianapolis.

A few days ago I ran into a (new to me) odd reciprocity quirk.

"The State of Oklahoma hereby recognizes any valid concealed carry weapons permit or license issued by another state, or if the state is a nonpermitting carry state, this state shall reciprocate under the permitting law of that state."

So Oklahoma recognizes all permits, but if a state doesn't have a permit (VT) they reciprocate that legal con carry too.

So in OK I can either carry on my AK permit or on my driver's license. OK is effectively Con Carry for Con Carry state residents but not its own.
